When the cell density is high enough, it is easy to use light scattering to monitor the cell growth.  However, some cells may grow slowly and one may need to know the cell growth results as soon as possible.  ProFoldin offers the Cell Density Assay Dye for detection of cells with a cell density that is too low to be detected by the light scattering method.  The Cell Density Assay Dye (Catalog number CP1000) detects cells by fluorescence emission at 535 nm with excitation at 485 nm. For example, a cell density of E. coli cells with 0.01 OD₆₀₀ gives a fluorescence signal to background ratio of 25.  It can measure cells with cell density beyond OD₆₀₀ detection range (OD₆₀₀ below 0.001).  

The Cell Density Assay Dye (Catalog number CP1000) can be used for quantification of cells with the following unique features: (1) high sensitivity that detects cell density less than 0.1 million /ml; (2) high throughput using 96-well plate and (3) applicable to various cells including Gram (-) and Gram (+) bacterial cells and insect cells.

The Cell Density Assay Dye (Catalog number CP1000) contains 0.5 ml of 100 x Dye CP1 for1000 assays in a 96-well plate format. A vacuum line (a standard lab vacuum line or pump), a vacuum device (Pall Corporation Catalog No. 5017 or alike) for filter plate and a 96-well filter plate (ProFoldin Catalog No. CSF1) are required for the assay.
